As Chairman, Senator Curtis helps lead work on U.S. policy in the Western Hemisphere, including Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as issues like transnational crime, human trafficking, civilian security, democracy, human rights, and women’s issues around the world. This assignment gives him a leadership role on issues that directly affect Utahns and and have been prioritized by the Trump Administration, including border security, fentanyl trafficking, organized crime, and the need for stability and opportunity in our own hemisphere.
This subcommittee focuses on America’s relationships and security interests in East Asia and the Pacific, including competition with China, support for allies and partners, trade, regional stability, and cybersecurity. This work is directly tied to Senator Curtis’ focus on holding China accountable and protecting America’s economic and national security.
This subcommittee works on America’s relationships with Europe, NATO allies, and other partners who are critical to global security. Senator Curtis uses this role to support strong alliances, push for shared responsibility among partners, and strengthen cooperation against threats from authoritarian regimes and transnational instability.
The Commerce Committee works on many of the issues that affect daily life and Utah’s economy, including transportation, aviation, rail, communications, consumer protection, technology, science, space, weather, tourism, and interstate commerce. For Utahns, this committee is a place where Senator Curtis can work on safer travel, stronger broadband and communications networks, responsible innovation, and policies that help American businesses compete.
This subcommittee focuses on the Coast Guard, maritime transportation, ports, oceans, and fisheries. While Utah is not a coastal state, these issues still matter to Utah families and businesses because the movement of goods through ports and waterways affects supply chains, prices, national security, and the products Utahns rely on every day.
This subcommittee works on issues that affect consumers in the digital marketplace, including privacy, online safety, data security, fraud, product safety, and emerging technology. Senator Curtis uses this assignment to focus on protecting Utah families, encouraging innovation, and making sure technology works for people—not the other way around.

For Utah, this work is especially important in rural communities where reliable internet and cell service can affect education, health care, public safety, small businesses, and economic opportunity.

Senator Curtis uses this assignment to help reduce unnecessary red tape, expand access to capital, support rural and Main Street businesses, and make sure Utah entrepreneurs have the tools they need to commercialize, grow, and compete.
