My highs and lows this week are coming to you from the Operation Gigawatt Summit in Park City, where I joined policymakers, investors, and industry leaders for important discussions on an energy future that is affordable, reliable, and clean. We need every electron we can get in order to meet growing energy demands, which is why an energy-abundance mindset is critical. My high is seeing all this great work happening in Utah, where we’re leading the charge in technologies like geothermal and nuclear, and also in critical minerals.
My low is the recently announced $1.776 billion Anti-Weaponization Fund from the Department of Justice. While the weaponization of government is wrong, trading accountability for broad immunity will only further erode public trust in our institutions. Two wrongs simply don’t make a right.
Regardless of wealth, position, or political influence, no American should be permanently placed beyond the reach of the law. The Fund thwarted plans we had this week to fund the Department of Homeland Security, too.
Have a great weekend, and stay safe.
